Using Barzun's Notation

I like the way Barzun adds themes to his work. I am in the process of writing a software design specification, and one of the things I need to do is write the design criteria. These are the guidelines and goals for the design. I'm using Barzun like tags for the design criteria, though instead of EMANCIPATION I'm using terms like MAINTAINABILITY. I'm adding references back to the design criteria in the design itself to indicate how the decisions were made in the design. I'm wondering how it will work out.
